While working as a Chartered Accountant, Phil Edwards realised he enjoyed what he did which is helping business owners achieve their business ambitions. A few years following this realisation, he formed Vanilla Accounting in 2010. Phil has over three decades worth of experience working with various national and regional accountancy practices. While he loves his work, he also knows how to have a good time outside his profession. Besides spending time with his wife and three children, he enjoys playing hockey and tennis at local clubs. He is an avid Forest fan and rarely misses watching any of their games.
Senior Client Manager
Dan had an outstanding accounting career working predominantly in audit, after he graduated in 2006. Once Dan qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2012, he figured out what he liked and what he was good at which is helping small to medium businesses achieve their business goals. It was opportune for Vanilla Accounting when Dan joined as client manager in 2013 and since then there has been no looking back, as they say. When he is not peering at balance sheets or poring over financial statements, he is busy putting or driving on the golf course or chasing a ball at one of the local football grounds.
Chris has worked for a number of small practices and also in industry for a while and has been with Vanilla Accounting since 2015. He is AAT qualified and is responsible for a portfolio of clients and especially enjoys working on minimizing clients personal tax bills. Chris is a Notts County fan and also enjoys most sports and spending time with his family.
Rachel is AAT and part ACCA qualified, putting herself through these qualifications whilst working in local practices and bringing up 2 children. She prides herself on being extremely efficient, and, with great attention to detail and an approachable and friendly manner, Rachel enjoys building effective client relationships. She loves working under pressure and meeting deadlines. This energy means that when she is not in the office Rachel is usually found at the gym or out running, walking the dog or spending time with family.
Bookkeeping & Payroll
After working for accountants for many years Kelly found her passion for bookkeeping and put herself through studying to became an AAT qualified bookkeeper, she joined the team to further her passion.
Kelly strives to learn new ways of doing things and takes on challenges that are sometimes out of her comfort zone. With a methodical approach and positive outlook she thrives on seeing a job through to the end. When she’s not helping people she will be out training for her next race, at a Zumba class or spending time with friends and family.
Tom is a graduate from Manchester Met, where he studied Accounting and Finance. Taking a year out to travel in South America, Tom finally made it back to the UK and has joined Vanilla as an Accounts Assistant. He has previous experience helping to manage the accounts for a national retailer. Tom brings to the team a commitment to seeking opportunities for clients to minimise their costs and look to grow their business. When he is not busy at Vanilla Tom likes to watch Everton FC, as well as playing football and cricket for his local teams.
Client Services Coordinator
Helen joined Vanilla from a diverse career in both industry and education, where the overriding aim was always to provide the very best service, to her customers or students. When she is not providing support to the team at Vanilla, Helen keeps herself busy: whether it is walking her dog, looking after her family or volunteering with Nottingham Sea Cadets.
Beth has worked in many roles over the years but relishes her current role looking after the team and ensuring the office runs smoothly. When not in the office she is looking after the family and ensuring everything runs smoothly at home too.
